Celebrate Festivals with Family: The Ultimate Investment in Happiness

This Diwali, I’m Choosing Family Over Everything Else

As Diwali approaches, I’ve been thinking about what it means to truly celebrate with family. I’m sure many of us can relate to the guilt of checking emails or scrolling through social media, even on special days meant for joy and togetherness. It’s easy to feel like we’re “there” because we’re in the room, but are we truly present?

Making a Choice to Be Present

This year, I’m making a choice to set work aside and put my phone away—not just physically but mentally, too. I want to be fully engaged as a parent, a child, a partner, and a friend. Imagine being "just Mom" or "just Dad" for a day, or reconnecting as a son or daughter instead of a business professional. That shift feels so refreshing, and I know it’s a gift that everyone around us can feel.

The Irony I’ve Noticed

It’s a little ironic, but sometimes I feel like I don’t even know what to say to my family anymore. So often, we’re sharing things online but not talking to the people sitting next to us. This is the reality we’ve found ourselves in, and it’s a reminder that family time isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential.

Time with Family is a Long-Term Investment

I’m starting to see family time as the ultimate investment. At the end of the day, jobs come and go, projects end, and trends change. But the memories we create with those we love are what truly last. A conversation with my parents, a laugh with my kids, or even just eye contact with my spouse—those are the things I want to hold on to when everything else is stripped away.

How I’m Making This Diwali Different

  • Asking Simple Questions: Instead of sharing social updates, I’m going to ask my family how they’re really doing or what made them happy this year.
  • Putting Devices Away: It’s hard to break the habit, but I’m committing to being screen-free during family gatherings. One day can make a difference.
  • Sharing Smiles, Not Screens: It’s amazing how much warmth a simple smile or eye contact can bring.

This Diwali, I’m giving my family the best gift I can: my full attention. It’s time to live in the moment, create memories worth looking back on, and prioritize the people who are always there. Let’s make this festive season about what truly matters—being present with those we love.

Wishing You a Joyous Diwali from thynkWISE!

At thynkWISE, we believe that “Simple is Always Smart.” This Diwali, let’s embrace simplicity by spending genuine, uninterrupted time with our loved ones. The memories we create today are the true wealth we hold onto for a lifetime.

Wishing you a warm, joyful Diwali filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Small Moments, Big Memories

Some of the most powerful Diwali memories are not the grand
gestures. They are the small ones. The smell of your mother's
mathri in the kitchen. Your father carefully arranging diyas
on the windowsill. Your children's eyes lighting up at the
first firecracker.

These moments do not require a budget. They do not require
planning. They only require your presence.

This year, instead of gifting your family something they
can unwrap, give them something they can feel — your
undivided attention, your genuine laughter, and your
willingness to simply be there.

Presence Is the Greatest Gift

We live in a world that constantly pulls us in a hundred
directions. Notifications, deadlines, meetings, and
messages — all competing for our attention every single
minute of the day.

But your family is not competing for your attention.
They are waiting for it — quietly, patiently, and
with unconditional love.

This Diwali, honour that patience. Put the phone face
down. Close the laptop. Sit with the people who matter
most and let the evening unfold without an agenda.

That is not wasted time. That is the best time you
will ever spend.

From all of us at thynkWISE — may your Diwali be
bright, your home be full of laughter, and your
heart be full of gratitude.

Happy Diwali. 🪔
